Each month we will be posting some of the musical selections that have been doing the rounds in our music systems.
This month we have been listening amongst others to:
Artist-TheBruce Katz Band
Album title-Mississippi Moan
Favourite track-The Prowler
This marry banch is providing one of the most energetic happy albums around. Led by Katz's Hammond B3 and a grand piano, they switch from New Orleans blues to Jazz to Boogie Woogie. The recording is superb, the bass endless, the swinging tunes will make listeners whoop with joy while tapping their feet, or worse...dance around their hifi.

Artist-Stefanovski&Tadic
Album title-Treja majka (Third Mother)
Favorite track-Kasapsko oro
Mixing magical notes from Macedonia and Serbia in the main, Vlatko Stefanovski and Miroslav Tadic are playing a style of Balkan traditional melodies in a fashion that makes most other guitar player sound a bit tame and conservative. Melodious, emotional and very fast in places. Those who like flamenco will rediscover the sound of guitars all over again, only with a Balkan twist which makes Flamenco sound mechanical and over planned. The rhythms are "Balkan made by Bach". Their talent is indescribable. Take yourself on a musical journey that you will not forget.

Jazz/Swing

Artist-The Terry Gibbs Quarted
Title-Terry Gibbs Quartet
Favourite Track-King City Stomp
In the mid 50's Terry Gibbs and his small ensemble of musicians have kept the swing alive. Long after the World war II big swinging days, Gibbs and his quartet have been interpreting the Swing, and breaking social molds. The album is featuring Terry Pollard, a young black female pianist. A fit that can not be underestimated On the same year this album came out and only a month later, Rosa Park has refused to let a white man take her seat on a bus.
The music is swing with a tinge of blues, surprisingly well recorded. Tap your feet, attempt a jitterbug or two and notice an involuntary smile forming on all who share the music.
